故事发生在19世纪末的英国，单纯美丽的女孩柯莱特（凯拉·奈特莉 Keira Knightley 饰）嫁给了身为作家的男子威力（多米尼克·威斯特 Dominic West 饰）。在丈夫的支持和鼓励之下，柯莱特拿起了笔，开始以自己学生时代的经历为蓝本进行创作，并且最终完成了她的第一本小说。让柯莱特没有想到的是，威力竟然将小说冠上了自己的名字出版，这部小说一经出版就在文坛中引起了轰动，威力一举成名。

我还真是喜欢这种传记类，尤其是文艺女作家，以前竟然没听过柯莱特这个作家，我以后真的不能自诩是文艺青年了。奈特莉这张脸太有辨识度了，她说话的样子，走路的样子，怎么看都还是她。虽然故事很简单，但柯莱特这个人应该不简单，故事从1894年左右开始，大概135年前的法国，她结婚，开始写作Claudine，一举成名的却是她丈夫。而她后来突破禁锢，又靠新式哑剧成名。离开她丈夫后，又开始了写作。她自己说，自己这一生很精彩，可惜意识到这一点有点儿晚了。女孩子啊，还是让自己活得恣意一些，精彩一些。
