卡尔（马特·狄龙 Matt Dillon饰）和莫利（凯特·哈德森 Kate Hudson饰）的新婚生活眼看就要甜甜蜜蜜的铺开，此时却来了个不速之客：卡尔的老友杜普瑞（欧文·威尔逊 Owen Wilson饰）。这个家伙行为怪异，思想奇特，有自己一套慵懒散漫的生活方式。如今他倒了大霉，被公司解雇，随后无家可归，好心的卡尔收留他住下，并不介意杜普瑞给自己新婚生活带来的麻烦。
杜普瑞的生活上的种种疯狂行径却已经让莫利忍无可忍，那些近乎荒唐的生活闹剧严重地影响了夫妻两人原本平静的生活。然而出人意料的是，杜普瑞跟街坊们打成一片，个个都受到他性格的感染。与之相反的是，卡尔的工作非常忙碌，分给家庭的时间日渐减少。于是杜普瑞更像是这里的男主人。不止邻居，就连莫利，也渐渐喜爱上这个电灯泡。这个三人同居的困境，到了非解决不可的地步。 For newlyweds Carl and Molly Peterson, life can't get any sweeter as they begin anew to settle down into married life. 挺无聊挺模式化挺套路还不怎么搞笑没什么亮点的美式喜剧
新婚夫妇收留了丈夫失业且没住处的好友。前面一小段以为这是一个请神容易送神难的故事，没想到后面妻子和丈夫好友却越处越融洽，以致引来丈夫的猜忌和怀疑，加上妻子爸爸的为难和作梗，最终一切爆发。剧情简单乏味，结局老套，是看过之后不久容易让人忘记的片子。
一对新婚夫妇的家住进了一个没有边界概念的单身汉，于是一地鸡毛；不过既然是好莱坞喜剧，结局当然是皆大欢喜。
不推荐。美国人那种劲劲儿的感觉真是表露无疑了。

這一部作品是在描畫一個新婚夫妻，家住一個熟友，但他們的生活受干擾，而男主人漸熟鄰里活動，女主人則要適度的安排生活活動，另外朋友也和鄰舍互動熱絡,漸漸地在他們的關係産生情誼。
