1919年俄国革命后,内战爆发,在伏尔加河平原上,不少匈牙利人加入了苏维埃红军同白军展开消耗战……一名来自匈牙利的红军士兵被杀死在村边的河流中,白军驱车在村庄宣传,似乎胜利已经在握。落魄的红军战士跑回营地,而那里同样有白军俘虏,红军除去俘虏的衣服羞辱他们,但是转眼间营地又被白军包围, 这次失去军装的是红军士兵,一身军装成为了人们区分敌我的唯一标示,抹消对方身份和屠杀的报复行为在两方间周而复始……几个红军战士逃出营地,在白军的围追中亡命天涯,而他们所遭遇的一切,注定是以死亡为终结的无奈循环。

Captives are executed or sent running naked into the woods. Neither side has a plan, and characters the camera picks out soon die. A White Cossack officer kills a Hungarian and is executed by his own superiors when he tries to rape a milkmaid. At the hospital, White officers order nurses into the woods, dressed in finery, to waltz. A nurse aids the Reds, then they accuse her of treason for following White orders. Red soldiers walk willingly, singing, into an overwhelming force. War seems chaotic and arbitrary.

九十分钟的杀戮游戏,并不太出色的运动长镜头充斥全片但没有情节和人物支撑显得十分苍白无力。
不要用刻板印象去区分誰代表正义,誰是坏的,你分不清红军和白军,只能从穿着上,他们的行为没有区别,暴力在两者之间循环反复,避过他们各自的借口,驱使暴力的是权力。“权力是通过公开的羞辱和对受害者身体的微小的控制实施的。”——杨索

看完之後基本上不記得裏面的人物就說明這電影有多成功,散點運動的長鏡頭,大空間景深,空曠大場面調度的教科書。攝像機像是在草原上自由地飄一樣,以至於這麽堅固殘酷的話題之重量被強悍的調度稀釋了,但戰爭的荒誕無常也就突顯了出來。
长镜头调度很棒,很美,不过主角和故事都不太明确,所以是一种冷眼旁观的展示的感觉,不太打动人
通过长镜头调度和演员调度改变景别或是景深从而替代剪辑,实现真正的客观全知视点,影片的走向也随着镜头的摆动和不断被脱下的军服,游走在红与白之间,导演的政治立场就和全篇长镜头带来的视点一样,身份不再重要,生命是重要的;每个个体叙事被长镜头中的蒙太奇打断,留下的只有吊诡的林中华尔兹、远景下的唱马赛曲慷慨赴死,却又再最后一个转移到那个散发出人道主义的将领身上
没想到匈牙利能有这么高的水平;导演的调度太棒了,让一个普通水平的剧本呈现出这么好的效果。导演系必学的电影。

战斗的全景影像就是,杀戮与逃亡,没有其他。
①许多和平年代的荒诞,在战争期间只能算是稀松平常的日常;②扬导长镜头的厉害之处在于,你若不刻意留心,都不会意识到长镜头的存在,技术被化于无形,观众的视线和注意力,都被长镜头营造的内容与情境吸引;③反战片看过很多,但像本片这样完全不挑明创作者态度的反战片,算是头一次见识,你甚至不能称它是反战片,它只是不动声色地让你看到,伴随战争而来的,是荒诞和残酷的不由自主性。
