Mi-hie works hard at a respectable job and raises her children in the love of music. But, one day, she is raped on a train and her attacker makes off with the company payroll. Unable to bear the shame of the incident and the added, unjust, suspicions that she was somehow involved in the robbery, Mi-hie attempts suicide. Failing that, she spends the next several years living alone in hiding, reappearing only to attend her children's recital
