剧情介绍
Disillusioned poet Max decides to commit suicide, but rather than making it a quiet affair, Max contacts the local media so that, he hopes, his name will live on. On the appointed day, however, Max suddenly has a change of heart, but with an eagerly expectant media in attendance, he finds that he is no longer in control of events.
When Max, a young poet hires a marketing company to turn his suicide-by-jumping into a mass-media spectacle, he finds that his subversive intentions are quickly diluted into a reactionary gesture, and his motivations are revealed as a desperate attempt to seek attention through celebrity.

借助电影的虚拟，给了垮掉的一代一次和精英阶层对话的机会，方式是当时普遍讨论的哲学问题（一切都没有意义，人是不是应该自杀），结局中所有人的崩溃多少可以表现一些导演的态度，其中展现的金斯堡的朗诵显得是如此的愚蠢。风格上影片是法国新浪潮的延续，加入了不少当时先锋电影的手法。

如果知道了这个借古喻今的片名背后所蕴含的故事那么对这部用超现实以及频繁跳接所拍摄的怪诞电影也就不会难以理解了。赫洛斯塔图斯这个焚毁阿尔忒弥斯神庙妄图出名的小人物和那个在神庙焚毁当天出生的亚历山大大帝，前者想出名却被判以不得载入历史，而后者焚毁了数以千计的神庙却青史留名。
