李尔王(保罗·斯科菲尔德 Paul Scofield 饰)年事已高,他决定将广袤的国土分给自己的三个女儿科迪莉亚(安妮-利塞·加博尔德 Anne-Lise Gabold 饰)、格纳利尔和里根(苏珊·恩格尔 Susan Engel 饰)。李尔王让三个女儿说出各自心中对父王的爱戴,格纳利尔和里根极尽花言巧语之所能,得到了李尔王的赞赏,小女儿科迪莉亚质朴而诚实,反而遭到了无情的驱逐。
失去了家园的科迪莉亚成为了法国的王后,而得到了父亲大片疆土的大女儿和二女儿则将李尔王赶出了家门。直到流落荒野无处可去,李尔王才明白自己犯了天大的错误,他一边责怪自己的愚昧,一边心痛科迪莉亚的遭遇。得知了李尔王的境遇,科迪莉亚组织了军队准备向老家进攻,不幸的是,军队遭遇惨败,科迪莉亚也遭到了逮捕。最终,科迪莉亚被处死,年迈的李尔王在痛苦中亦追随而去。 The Shakespeare tragedy that gave us the expression "How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child." King Lear has not one but two ungrateful children, and it's especially galling because he turned over his entire kingdom to them. Paul Scofield is an ancient, imposing shell of a Lear tormented by his too-long life as well as by daughters he calls "unnatural hags." At one point, the king looks his eldest daughter, Goneril (Ireme Worth), straight in the eye and declares, "Thou art a boil, a plague-sore, of embossed carbuncle in my corrupted blood." These are the troubles not even the best-trained family counselor could ever hope to resolve.

片子很老 看的有点累😂
虽然觉得结构上不够紧凑,但是整个氛围和表演方式都蛮喜欢的,而且有些表达方式看着也觉得有点实验惹。
舞台剧一样的电影我有点摸不着头脑……加上上海电影节这个奇葩的断针翻译……
618@影城 7分。特别bleak的一版King Lear。彼得布鲁克使了大量舞台剧手法,大特写、闪剪、呻吟,沉闷压抑。后段blurred vision及疯Tom哀嚎剪得有趣,但过度大特写少调度0配乐及近于虚无主义的演绎,看完生无可恋,想起惊奇山谷亦是空白。
这一部的演员表现,尤其是李尔王和两个大女儿的表演简直像是在看舞台。但导演的表现手法跟看这片之前看的王子复仇记一比简直像是默片时代刚出来的。这一版的考狄莉娅的存在感弱得几乎感觉不到,反而是大姐的演员虽然很不年轻了,存在感强得让人觉得不如让她当统治者还比较合适。
#SIFF#【脸盲星人的地狱】虽然睡过了大半程(...)看到的部分还是很精彩的。剪辑颇有特点,一个不恰当的比喻,像是没剪干净(。
挑了一部在家看肯定会睡着的片子,结果右边的人全程在睡,左边坐了一个外国人在某个笑点惊醒,自己倒是撑下来了,黑白的画面加粗糙的字幕。现在的人被喂得越来越挑剔,已经无法满足那个只有演技的电影时代了。anyway上海电影节重在参与。
