看chef show S01E04时提及Gold Jonathan，搜了一下发现这部纪录片。“you want these guy to succeed.”“one thing that I try never to do is to pretend expertise that I don’t have.”看他用谷歌翻译看滋味成都餐馆评论时好感动，他真的是一个包容而谦卑的人，观察、分析、发现，不停地去阅读和理解城市、街头文化和人，用自己的笔给予恰当的建议与帮助。

从片子问世就一直说要看要看，等到主角过世才真的花时间看。一个人通过食物连接一座城市和它的人们，感人至深。华人社区恐怕更要感谢Jonathan Gold。LA就是这样一个神奇的地方。
任何一种事物都是严肃的，只是人们倾向于消解它，更想盲人摸象。食评家重要一点就是通过曼妙的文笔去带领大家去进去到这个严肃的话题中。而不是大众点评式的amazing，这也是我所希望努力的方向。美中不足是想看看对食评的负面评价会集中在哪些方面。
