妻子在车祸中丧生使得他伤心不已，至今依旧处于伤口的愈合状态。乔尔一早醒来发现她的狗，猫王，处于脱水和死亡的边缘。心知连自己都无法好好照顾，所以他决定放弃狗狗离群索居。然而，这并非易事。行事匆忙，他无意中将钥匙遗落在家中，这迫使得他直面对于亡妻的回忆。
Torn by the recent death of his wife in a car accident, and still recovering from his wounds, Joel wakes up to find Elvis, her dog, dehydrated and on the verge of death. Unable to even take care of himself, he decides to abandon the dog and cut himself off from the world. But it won't prove to be easy, when he locks himself out of his house and is forced to confront memories of her.
