故事发生在遥远的1723年，那是吸血鬼与人类共存的时代，身为吸血鬼之王，卡甘（本·金斯利 Ben Kingsley 饰）凭借自己强大的力量和邪恶的本性将人类尽数驱赶，那些还未沦为吸血鬼们盘中餐的人类，只能如同蝼蚁一般躲藏在硫磺城之中。
即便是在这样一个黑暗的时代，依然有勇士为了自由和光明勇敢的斗争着，他们是名叫“地狱之火”的团体。为了得到更强大的力量，卡甘决定寻找吸血鬼祖先留下的法宝，这也意味着，一旦卡甘得手，人类的末日将真正来临，而在传说中，有一个名为莱恩（克里斯塔娜·洛肯 Kristanna Loken 饰）的神秘女人，她是唯一一个知道除掉卡甘方法的存在。 In the Eighteenth Century, Rayne is the half-human half-vampire Dhampir and the lead attraction in a carnival's freak-show in Romania. When she escapes, she meets a fortuneteller that tells that her mother was raped by the king of the vampires Kagan and she decides to destroy her father. In her journey for revenge, she meets Vladimir and Sebastian, the leaders of the fortress of vampire hunters Brimstone, and she joins their society. She seeks for powerful talismans to defeat Kagan, while the skilled warriors Vladimir and Sebastian train her to face the forces of Kagan and her human side falls in love with Sebastian.

这部吸血鬼题材的片子在当年应该还是有些知名度的，也算是这个类型片的先驱者之一了，当然成品效果实在是差强人意，不管是人物设定还是剧情走向都是没啥逻辑可言，特别是动作戏份更是一言难尽了，当然影片背后的故事可能比电影本身更加精彩，导演乌维·鲍尔和影评人的拳击擂台比影片本身更有话题性了~
